Our Word Hunts started off as a center for our letter of the week.   In this picture Destiny shows us some words she has copied down from around the room that begin with letter S.  This is good practice for our students and reinforces letter recognition.  Our students have enjoyed this activity so much that we often have kids who choose to write words for their choice centers.

We love it when we have guests come and read us a story.  Destiny is a fifth grader and she read us The Giving Tree.

The students in Room 2 have really gotten into reading books lately.  Above, Cameron and Kobie share a book together.  We like to read books with our friends and by ourselves.  We get to spend time reading when our work is done.  Our most popular books are the ones that we have made in class!  Below Corey is reading our red book...a book about things that are red.

We had a great time today celebrating apples in our class.  We celebrated with Mrs. Hampton's class, too.  Between our two rooms, all of our students completed eight different stations which included:
Tasting of different apple foods
Estimating and counting apple seeds
Estimating, measuring and weighing apples
An apple sorting game
Making Johnny Appleseed apple prints
Sorting big, medium and small apples
Applejacks pattern necklaces
Writing in our journals about apples
We had more than 20 parents, relatives and friends volunteer their time to help our students in each of the centers.  The whole thing was a lot of fun for everyone involved.  A big thank you to all of you who gave up your time to help out!  We couldn't have done it without you!
